Using This Module

The recommended font (typeface) for viewing this module is Times or Times Roman at 12 pt size for the proportional font. Fonts can be set under General Preferences... under the Options menu.

This module is designed for monitors with 640 x 480 pixel resolution. There should be no problems with larger monitors, as your browser should reflow the text and graphics. The Frame on the left of this page is the Index Frame, and is designed for easy access to all module pages.

We recommend that you navigate to another page using the Index Frame. However, if you wish to return to a previous Frame, or the next Frame, hold down the mouse button (Macintosh) in the Frame you wish to change and you will be presented with the option to navigate Back in Frame, or Forward in Frame. On the MS-Windows platform, hold down the right mouse button for the same options. If the option is greyed out, then you cannot leave that Frame by this means, and must use the Index Frame. This happens when you have reloaded the entire page, or have not yet visited other pages.

All the pages have been designed to fit in this frame and eliminate horizontal scrolling. However, if your screen has a resolution of 640 x 480, you will need to maximize the browser window so that it fills the entire computer screen. If you have a higher resolution screen, maximizing the browser window may not be necessary.

At the top of the frame are Mailto links for the following:

Use this link to E-Mail Pat Letendre if you have questions about the course. Click on the mailbox icon in the left Frame.

To post a question or a comment for group discussion, send E-Mail to the class mailing list by clicking on this link in the left Frame. If you are using a computer in a lab, please remember to include your e-mail address to identify yourself.

Next come Resources, which should come in handy throughout the course.

Click on Pat's photograph in the left Frame to visit her homepage.

For help with defining genetic terms, see this resource.

Take the time to review the valuable genetics resources on this page.

Also see the transfusion medicine resources here.

Search Medline courtesy of Medscape.

The Contents list links to all pages in the module. To navigate from section to section, use the index which is in the left frame. Just click on the topic and it will appear in the right frame (where this message is displayed).

To follow the recommended progression of modules, click on the directional arrows at the top of each page.
