PHILOSOPHY 230: GREEK PHILOSOPHY TO PLATO

A1 First Term MWF 10:00-10:50 M. Tweedale
A survey of ancient Greek philosophy from its beginnings around 600 BCE up to and including Plato in the 4th century BCE. About half the course will be devoted to thinkers prior to Plato, including Socrates, and half to Plato himself. The emphasis will be on metaphysics, cosmology and epistemology, but ethical and political doctrines will also be touched on.
