NASA Accountability to the Association Policy

The following policy was adopted at the June 24, 1997 Annual General Meeting

Annual Reports:

All Executive officers of the association and Reps Council shall provide members with written annual reports to be circulated -- to ALL members -- by mail not less than five days before the date established for the AGM.

Interim Reports:

The Treasurer shall provide interim financial reports on the state of the union's finances at least three times during the course of the year.

The Grievance Chair shall provide reports on grievances and legal expenses incurred to date of report at least three times a year.

Reps Council shall provide regular reports on Council programs and activities at least three times a year.

Interim reports shall be distributed via regular NASA mailouts and be made available on appropriate NASA websites for members reference.

Participation/Accountability:

To allow Council to carry out its advisory role, each Executive Officer shall report at least once annually to Reps Council at a mutually agreed date during the year.

All Executive members shall also be expected to participate in Joint Forums held to develop strategy for NASA.

All Bargaining Team members shall normally be required to attend Focus Group meetings.

NASA shall establish a Contract Maintenance Committee during the life of a Collective Agreement. It will be made up of the NASA Bargaining Team and provide NASA with continuity and a resource on issues of interpretation of the contract based on their experience in the bargaining session.

NASA Information Access and Security Policy:

The NASA Secretary shall submit a comprehensive access to information/privacy report for consideration by the next fall general membership meeting. The proposed policy will address the handling of our records, confidentiality and security, member access to that information, and related matters.
