POSITION ABANDONMENT

37.01 Abandonment of Position

An employee who absents himself/herself from his/her employment without permission and who has not informed his/her supervisor shall, after three (3) consecutive work days of such unauthorized absence, be considered to have abandoned his/her position and will be deemed to have resigned, unless it is subsequently demonstrated by the employee that circumstances beyond his/her control prevented him/her from reporting to his/her place of work and from contacting his/her supervisor or Department Head.
