ARTICLE 14
SALARIES
14.01 An employee shall be paid in accordance with the grade assigned
to his/her position.
14.02 Notwithstanding clause 14.01, temporary employees new-hired
after November 1, 1991, may be paid less than the rates of base pay; however, this shall
be no less than seventy-five percent (75%) of the rates of base pay.
14.03 The rate of base pay set out in Appendices A and B shall not be
reduced except with the concurrence of NASA.
14.04 Where the Board increases the range of rates of base pay in
Appendices A, B and C, the employees shall be paid in the new scale of rates at the same
step as they were being paid in the old scale of rates.
14.05 Tradesperson
(a) The above notwithstanding, a person employed in one of the trades job titles shall
be paid in accordance with the appropriate rate of base pay.
(b) An employee who is not employed under a trades job title, but is required to
perform a trade task which is restricted by code and which s/he is certified to do, shall
receive the applicable trade rate of base pay for such work.
(c) Where a trade task is restricted by code to those holding appropriate
certification, only those with the appropriate certification will be required to perform
the task described by the code, and paid accordingly.
14.06 Apprentices
An apprentice shall be paid the appropriate percentage (as specified in the
Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act and Regulations) of the hourly base pay rate
given for his/her trade.
14.07 NASA agrees that the Board shall retain the Employment Insurance
Rebate for benefit plan purposes.
