Appendix S

Memorandum of Agreement
between
the Non-Academic Staff Association
(herein after called "NASA")
and
the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta
(herein after called "the University")

Further to Article 14 of the collective agreement, the following provisions shall apply for the new collective agreement commencing April 1, 1997, and expiring March 31, 2000:

1. There shall be a 3.59% increase of current salary for the fiscal year commencing April 1, 1997, that shall be applied in the following manner:

(i) A return of the salary deduction monies taken (i.e.,the 2.69% salary deduction in exchange for the seven (7) unpaid days), for the period of April 1, 1997, to March 31, 1998, that was outlined in the previous Agreement between the Board and NASA, for all eligible regular employees. The previous seven (7) unpaid and unworked days shall now be paid for, with
three (3) days worked and four (4) days paid (as per Article 23) for eligible regular employees;
(ii) A $684,000 payment (i.e., equivalent to a 0.90% percent salary charge) to meet requirements in the previous Memorandum of Agreement on Benefits Cost Containment for the period ending March 31, 1997.

2. There shall be a 2.75% increase in salary to be applied to all base pay for the fiscal year commencing April 1, 1998.

3. There shall be a 3.10% increase in salary for the fiscal year commencing April 1, 1999, that shall be applied in the following manner:

(1) There shall be a 2.25% increase in salary to be applied to all base pay commencing April 1, 1999;

(2) There shall be a $681,048 (i.e., 0.85% percent salary charge) payment for any increased cost of benefits payable March 31, 1999; however, any residual amount not required (i.e., increased costs of benefits are lower than the $681,048 payment figure) shall be converted to a percentage increase in salary to be applied to all base pay commencing October 1, 1999.
