Competition Results

We are pleased to announce that the Prairie Metropolis Centre will be funding the following research projects:

Hugh Grant, (University of Winnipeg), “Addressing the Accreditation Gap: Post-MD Training of International Medical Graduates in Manitoba.”

Noorfarah Merali, (University of Alberta), “Contrasting Authentic South Asian International Arranged Marriages from Bona Fide Marriages for Immigration: An Insider Viewpoint.”

Clea Schmidt, (University of Manitoba), “The Impact of Professional Bridging Programs for Immigrant Teachers in Western Canada.”

Node Meetings/Research Symposia

The PMC Node Meetings/Research Symposia will be held in Winnipeg on September 17, 2010, at the Delta Hotel (350 St. Mary Avenue, 2010), from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; in Regina on September 24, 2010 at the University of Regina, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; in Calgary on October 22, 2010, at the University of Calgary, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The mornings of each node meeting will focus on the Citizenship and Social, Cultural and Civic Integration Domain.  Dr. Lloyd Wong of the University of Calgary has organized the morning sessions, featuring local researchers, government and NGO representatives.  
An email will be sent out as soon as the registration forms are available on  the PMC website.

The Prairie Centre welcomes applications for research grants for the fiscal year 2010-2011 (Fall) from all PMC Research Affiliates.  Please be advised that the deadline for receipt of the grant applications will be September 17, 2010.   No exceptions will be allowed.
