Benedikte Naubert (1756-1819) was the most prolific German writer of her time. She wrote folk tales, historical novels as well as other works. Her folk tales are scheduled to appear in a new edition in the spring of 2001: Benedikte Naubert, Neue Volksmärchen der Deutschen. Ed. by Marianne Henn, Paola Mayer und Anita Runge. Göttingen: Wallstein Verlag, 2001. This completely new edition will include an extensive commentary, an editorial report, a history of the printing and publication of the texts, a literary biography of the author, the reception of the folk tales, a history of the genre and the poetics of the folk tales in the 18th century as well as an introduction into Naubertís narrative approach. The launching of the edition will be accompanied by a reading and a lecture including an exhibition on the author and her work in Naumburg where Naubert later lived. These events are planned for May 5, 2001 at which time the exhibition will be launched at the Nietzsche-Haus in Naumburg. For further information please contact: Marianne Henn
