Matthew Thomson

Graduate Student in Condensed Matter Physics

Hi! My name is Matthew Thomson, and I'm a graduate student in physics. I did my undergrad here at the UofA, studying engineering physics. I am currently co-supervised by Dr. Joseph Maciejko and Dr. Frank Marsiglio, where I am studyting continuous symmetry breaking of one-dimensional spin chains using the Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) algorithm.

I also help the Student Team for Alberta Rocketry Research (STARR) with their avionics, continuing as an advisor and mentor from my time as the avionics team lead in my undergrad.
Me!

I took a newer picture of myself.
