Title: Strength gain and carbon dioxide uptake in carbonation activated steel slag binders

 

    Supervisor: Professor Yixin Shao

 

    Abstract: In this study, the carbonation and hydration behavior of steel slag binders were investigated. Steel slags are industry wastes accumulated from steel-making process. Carbonation activation technique was implemented on the fresh construction products to accelerate strength gain.

1) Title: Characteristics of concrete containing fly ash with Hg-adsorbent

 

    Supervisor: Professor Vivek Bindiganavile

 

    Abstarct: The present study has focused on the effects of Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) in fly ash on the air-entraining admixture demand and consequent properties of concrete.

 

2) Title: Behavior of channel shear connectors embedded in fiber reinforced concrete and its use as a seismic dissipation device

 

    Supervisor: Professor Shervin Maleki

 

    Abstract: The results of the push out test were used for investigating the channel shear connector embedded in fiber reinforced concrete when it is subjected to a low fatigue load.
