What we do

The KHRG supports and carries out patient-centred research which directly enhances the care that Alberta patients with kidney disease receive.

Our studies focus on how to make it easier for patients with kidney disease to get timely, high quality care that they can afford.

The Need

Our main priority is supporting research that improves the care, quality of life, and health of people living with kidney disease, including those on dialysis or with a kidney transplant.

KHRG is currently doing research on:

•Better access to kidney transplantation, especially for residents of rural communities

•Improving the quality of life for patients with kidney failure

•New and enhanced ways of receiving dialysis treatment – including home treatment

•Improving ways to prevent kidney failure in Alberta and in developing countries
