Grumman F6-F Hellcat Group Build Project
Updated: 29 August 2005
The Solid Models Memories group is considering a group build of a reasonably simple Solid model. The purpose here is for a few people to build one at the same time and share experiences, questions and tips through the forum, and of course, have fun.
We have not actually decided on a subject yet, but are kicking around the idea of a Hellcat, so I am presenting this one as an example of the type of model I think may be appropriate.
This particular plan is scanned from an old Air Trails Classics magazine from the Summer of 1977. This magazine was a great treasure to a 13 year old boy in Edmonton. I'd seen old time plans from the pages of Model Builder, but this was the real deal. I've read so many stories of the disbelief of so many old timers when their mother (it always seemed to be mom) brought them a issue of Model Airplane News, or Flying Aces. They couldn't believe something so perfect exsisted, that the editors seemed to be working for them personnaly. This was my magazine!
The plan was originally printed in the August 1946 issue of Air Trails magazine.
