MARBA was my team's (Basement Engineering) original motion activated robotic arm. Originally designed for a mechanical engineering design class in third year of the Mechanical Engineering program at Lakehead University, this arm was what inspired and propelled us into our capstone project. In the team, I was the programming and software lead. From scratch, I wrote a C++ and Arduino based program that translated signal from accelerators in a smartphone and relayed it appropriate servos that actuated the same movement on a mechanical arm. This project won 1st place in Technical Communications at the Lakehead Engineering Competition. We also qualified for the regional Ontario Engineering Competition where we pitched our project to a panel of judges at the University of Ottawa.
