HONG KONG!

The last time we went to Hong Kong was in 1982 so finally, after 19 years we had the chance to go back for a second visit! Things I liked about Hong Kong: the double-decker buses, nice warm winter temperatures, yummy food, lots of neat electronic stuff, the scaffolding around the buildings (Daddy pointed out that it was bamboo), the trams, the MTR, and of course, seeing our relatives. Would I live there? Probably not, it's a bit too crowded for me, and the smog can get to you, but it's a wonderful place to visit, and one week definitely wasn't long enough for a thorough exploration of the city. Hopefully it won't take another 19 years before we get to go back again.
After roughly 15 hours in the sky we arrived in Hong Kong, greeted by warm 20 degree Celcious weather! In the background is a picture of Jackie Chan holding a crab. At the Hong Kong airport
Great-GrandmaDAY ONE: I'm proud to report that jet-lag was not a problem! Unfortunately, I don't remember the first time we visited Great-grandma or the time she came to see us so the most important part of day one in Hong Kong was to visit Great-grandma. We had a nice journey on the MTR (the rail system) to Causeway Bay and North Point and it was wonderful to see her. Later that night we had a small family get-together with Great-grandma, Grandma, both of Daddy's brothers and our cousin.
DAY TWO: The day started with Uncle Hoo Wing taking us up to The Peak to get a panoramic view of the city. We rode a tram up the hill (a very steep ride) and walked along one of the trails giving us a full view of Hong Kong island and Kowloon. Included in this shot is the convention center where the ceremonies for returning Hong Kong to China took place, and somwhere close to the tall black building is our hotel. The Peak
Mom's relativesThe second part of Day Two consisted of a bus trip to Yuen Long to visit Mom's Aunty and Uncle, and one of her cousin's families too. The restaurant was rather unique too...we brought the fresh seafood to the restaurant and then they cooked it according to how we wanted it!.
DAY THREE: We had a very long MTR ride followed by a ride on one of the "light buses" so that we could go visit Grandpa at one of the temples during the afternoon. It was definitely one of the most moving events during our stay in Hong Kong.Visiting Grandpa
Family photoFrom left to right: Uncle Hoo Wing, Grandma, and Daddy. I took this picture on the MTR while we were on our way back to the hotel after visiting Grandpa. After dinner, Uncle Hoo Wing and Chris went to the Happy Valley racecourse to see the horse races while Grandma, Daddy, and Mom did some more wandering around the city. I, in the meantime, attempted to be studious and went back to the hotel room with the hope of studying my chemistry.
DAY FIVE: This was taken during one of the family dinners. This time Daddy's cousin's family joined us for dinner and this is a picture of Chris and me, and our cousins. During our whole stay, Janet is the only other girl, about my age, that I met!Cousins
Judging horsesDAY SIX:We spent our afternoon at the Sha Tim racecourse. Since I have no idea how to understand the "odds" of these races, I decided to play it safe and keep my money while Uncle Hoo Wing and Chris tried their luck with the betting. This horse was their winning horse!
'Sigh', the end of Day six and the night before we were scheduled to leave. Yet another family dinner, this time including two of Daddy's cousin's families. Top row: Uncle Joseph, Uncle Hoo Wing, Justin (Uncle Joseph's son). Middle: Siu Cheong. Bottom row: Mom (sorry, only half of Mom!), Grandma, Uncle Kai Wing, Daddy, and Uncle Man Wing. The last big dinner
