The overall objective of this workshop is to show teachers
how they can prepare microbiology labs for their students
using materials available in the community. The topics will
include:
  
1. Preparing Blood for Microscopic Examination
   Teacher/local hospital/medical laboratory

2. Growing Microbes from Students and the Environment
   Potatoes
   Solid medium
   Liquid medium

3. Examining Microbes in the Microscope - wet mounts and
                                          dry mounts
   Wet Mounts - yeast
   Dry Mounts - yeast
      Kits for staining - availability

4. Demonstrating Microbial Inhibition/Antibiotic Activity
   Penicillin Spores - 
   Antibiotic Discs - availability of prescription? 

Teachers will have "hands on" experience preparing these 
materials.
