Miscellaneous Information:

     These represent the smallest form of life that can live on
their own, i.e. without the help of a eukaryotic cell (see
chlamydia).  Mycoplasmas are too small to be seen clearly on an
ordinary light microscope, but they can be studied using electron
microscopes.
     Microbes smaller than mycoplasmas are viruses and prions.
Viruses and prions reproduce differently than eubacteria and
are not considered "alive."
