- This course will provide an overview of the current understanding of stars, galaxies and cosmology. The emphasis will be on understanding the physical processes underlying astronomical phenomena.
- Literature:
- Standard Assignments: 25%.
- Reading Assignments: 3%.
- In-class response (iclickers): 2%.
- Midterm test 1: 17.5%. Feb 8
- Midterm test 2: 17.5%. Mar 8
- Final exam: 35%. Apr 22
- Lectures: CCIS-2-200; MWF 3-4pm
- Office hours: CCIS 2-107; on Tuesdays 2-4pm. Exceptions: NO office hours on Jan 15, Feb 19 (reading week) , Apr 2 session (easter break) will be provided on Apr 4, Apr 9 session will be substituted on Apr 11
- Tutorials: MTh, 4-6pm . Tutorials start on Jan 14
Astronomy is a science that uses intensively physics and math. The course will be heavy on problem solving.
