6.11 Pile driving system

The mechanical pile driving system (Photo 1) is in the form of a detachable carriage which houses the driving ram and is guided by an actuator which follows the pile during driving. The actuator is powered by a variable speed servo motor allowing movements of the carriage in both the horizontal and vertical directions. Schematic diagrams of the overall pile driving system and details of the driving carriage are shown in Table 1 and Fig. 1.
