3.3.3 Earth pressure gauges

A diaphragm earth pressure gauges are generally classified into two types; strain gauge type and semiconductor type. Some of them have a tiny sized diaphragm. In selecting the size of transducers, it is recommended to examine the stiffness of the transducer, soil type and particle size. The earth pressure gauges are used to measure the distribution of earth pressure in the model ground and earth pressure acting on model walls during the flight.
