Lake Wabamun

The graph below shows the total PAH concentrations in sedminent cores from a few central Alberta lakes. Lake Wabamun has four nearby coal powerplants, whereas Pigeon has none. The rise in PAH concentration in the Wabamun sediment core coincides with the construction of the first powerplant there in the 1950s.
