Based in Toronto (Markham), the Canadian division of Huawei’s Shannon Cognitive Computing Lab is responsible for developing key technologies in artificial intelligence and cognitive computing. Through internal collaboration with Shannon Cognitive Computing Labs in the US, Russia, Israel, and China, and external collaboration with leading research institutions in Canada and the US, we innovate at the leading-edge of machine learning, computer vision, and robotics to support the company's continued business success.

Job Description & Qualification Requirements

Job Description:

We are looking for passionate researchers who have conducted active and excellent research in one or more of the following research directions:

  1. Sensor data processing, such as data segmentation;
  2. Sensor modeling and data fusion;
  3. Environmental perception, such as Probabilistic environment modeling and detection;
  4. Object tracking and data association;
  5. Scene understanding and reasoning;
  6. Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM);
  7. Behavior planning;
  8. Real-time motion planning;
  9. Application of machine learning techniques (includes deep learning, reinforcement learning, etc) to one or more of the above directions.
Qualification Requirements:

  1. Imaginative individuals with creative thinking whom are highly motivated by the future of artificial intelligence;
  2. Knowledge of machine learning algorithms, especially experience in deep learning and reinforcement learning;
  3. Knowledge of autonomous driving or mobile robots, such as perception, scene understanding, data fusion, planning, and decision making, is a plus;
  4. Proficiency in Linux and strong programming skills with two or more relevant programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, Shell, Python, Matlab etc.);
  5. Advanced communication skills.
