Congratulations to Dr. Olle Lagerquist. Olle did a fantastic job in successsfully defending his PhD thesis. Thanks to Edelle Field-Fote, who was the external examiner, and the rest of the examination committee. Olle is going to start his MBA at the U. of Alberta in the fall.

Paper accepted!! Congratulations to Joanna Clair on the acceptance of first paper for publication in Experimental Brain Research. The paper "Reflex pathways connect receptors in the human lower limb to the erector spinae muscles of the lower back" was the result of work she started as an undergraduate student. The paper is also the first publication for Yoshino Okuma who also contributed to the project as an undergraduate student.

More new funding! Dr. Collins has received a 5 year Discovery Grant from NSERC to pursue the work on control properties of single motor units. Thank-you NSERC!!

Cameron Mang has recieved an NSERC Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship for his work toward his Master's degree. Congratulations!

New paper accepted! Congratulations to Alex Tamm and Alex Ley on their first publications. We found differences between "morning people" and "evening people" in the ability to generate torque during maximum contractions and in the excitability of the motor cortex. This work was entitled "Chronotype Influences Diurnal Variations in the Excitability of the Human Motor Cortex and the Ability to Generate Torque during a Maximum Voluntary Contraction", and was written by Alex Tamm and Olle Lagerquist and will appear in the June issue of the Journal of Biological Rhythms!
