Welcome back Joanna! Ms. Clair has just returned to the lab after a 6 month work visit to Dr. Jules Dewald's lab at Northwestern University in Chicago. The rest of the lab just returned from the Exercise Physiologists of Western Canada Conference in Saskatoon.

We congratulate Dr. Jesse Dean on his Faculty position in South Carolina. Jesse was with us for 3 years and has now moved on to a joint position between the Medical University of South Carolina and Clemson. We will miss him but wish him all the best for the future!

Congratulations to Alex Brown who is the first author on our paper entitled ‘‘Go’’ Signal Intensity Influences the Sprint Start that appeared in the June issue of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. This paper raises issues about how the track and field sprint events are started at the Olympic Games and has caused a bit of a stir in the media. Go to "Our Research in the News". See pictures.

Congratulations to Jamie Anderson-Reid and Cam Mang for yesterday's convocation and completing the requirements for their bachelors' degrees. Both Cam and Jamie will be starting their Master's degrees in our lab next year. In other news we have a gallery of pictures from the transition from the old lab to the current lab. See pictures.

Congratulations to Olle Lagerquist, Cam Mang and Alex Tamm on being awarded scholarships in recent competitions. Olle received a University of Alberta Dissertation Scholarship for the final year of his PhD work. Cam and Alex received studentships from NSERC and AHFMR, respectively, to conduct research in the lab over the summer.

The Human Neurophysiology Laboratory has a new home! We are now loacted at 6-40 General Services Building. Dr. Collins' office is 6-41 GSB. We will put up some pictures of our new space shortly. Directions to our lab.

Joanna Clair left today to spend 6 months in Chicago working on a collaborative project with Dr. Jules Dewald at Northwestern University. We will miss her and wish her the best of luck.

Congratulations to Jesse Dean (et al.) on the acceptance of his manuscript by the journal Muscle and Nerve. The paper is the first to show that stimulation of an antagonist muscle (TA) inhibits electrically-evoked contractions of the agonist muscle (soleus) and this may be useful for controlling contractions for rehabilitation.

Congratulations to Alex Brown (et al.) on the acceptance of his manuscript to be published in the June issue of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. The paper, entitled ""Go" signal intensity influences the sprint start: Implications for the Olympic games", was the result of a project Mr. Brown started as an undergraduate student.
