First Anniversary of the First Electronic Peer-Reviewed Pharmaceutical Sciences Journal

The Journal of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (JPPS) is now one year old. As the first electronic peer-reviewed pharmaceutical sciences journal we have done pretty well. We are now proud to present the first issue of the second volume.

Last year the Journal received 42 manuscripts of which 24 were accepted for publication. The number of submissions is impressive for a fresh and bold journal dedicated to the publication of high quality peer-reviewed papers. A significant rate of manuscript rejection was expected. JPPS, unlike conventional hard copy journals, is not circulated in paper format. Hence, the editorial office is not under pressure to produce issues with a certain number of articles for mail delivery to subscribers. Only high quality articles with sound data have been accepted. A policy we intend to continue.

Many of our colleagues are still very much attached to the tradition of seeing their papers as hard prints. Although old habits are difficult to break, the electronic print concept is gaining momentum. The emergence of AAPS PharmSci, a new publication from our American counterpart, is a welcome news. Some of our colleagues may also have reservations in publishing their articles in a new journal that is not yet included in any of the traditional citation lists. JPPS is being monitored by several citation agencies and, once approved for inclusion, all past issues will be listed. We are in constant contact with these agencies in order to ensure the Journal is listed as soon as possible.

The Journal needs your support. Please send us your original research, reviews, views, and news.

Finally, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to our reviewers for their valuable time, as well as to our authors and the Journal’s Editorial Board for their most valuable support.
