The Leo P. Chall Dissertation Fellowship is open to Ph.D. candidates who are writing a dissertation that is intended as a contribution to the history of sociology.

This $5,000 fellowship will be awarded in January 2001.

Applicants are requested to submit the following information (in English):

(1) A limited précis (3 pages, single-spaced) of the dissertation proposal, which includes:

- A description of the project
- An explanation of how the research will contribute to the field
- A description of the work completed to date

(2) Plans for completing the dissertation.
(3) Two letters of recommendation.
(4) A complete academic c.v., including exam results and grade transcript where available.
(5) A listing of current or previous awards

The deadline is 1 September 2000.
