CESA is a School of Business Club that was formed in 1993 along with the Cooperative Education Program. We provide support to all business co-op students and enhance the Cooperative Education experience. All business co-op students are automatically members of this association upon acceptance in the program at no cost. Since it was founded in 1993, CESA has been a forum for discussion and networking opportunities - bringing students, faculty and the business community together.
Our main objective is to provide the community link between
co-ops currently on work terms and campus life. We do this
through our networking events as well as through our website
initiatives.
Our Events and Activities:
Co-op Get-Togethers
CESA organizes monthly luncheons in downtown Edmonton for
students currently on co-op work terms. These lunches provide
the opportunity for students to network with each other and
share their work experiences. These lunches typically gather 15
to 30 students.
Top of Class Dinner
Networking event involving keynote speakers, corporate sponsors,
all co-op students and also the co-op office. This event has
been a large success in the past and all students in the faculty
of business may attend. Look for the dinner in the fall.
Mentorship Program
In 2004 CESA has started the Mentorship Program which provides
support for new co-ops during their first job search
experience. The mentorship program was a huge success and
has been carried forward with the hopes of further mitigating or
reducing the anxiety of the job search process for new co-op
students.
Feature Co-op
Every month CESA will feature a co-op on a work term and will
post a short bio about that person and their current job on our
website. This is a great way for students to learn about other
co-op placements that they may be interested in.
Fundraising
Every year the CESA executive seeks out various funding for our
initiatives. CESA generally operates with a small budget and
works to maximize value to the co-op student body with that
budget. Students may get involved by either applying to the next
executive or by also getting involved as a CESA Event Volunteer. |
