imprint Research

The overall goal of imprint research is to improve pediatric mental health care for children and youth in the Emergency Department (ED). While EDs are viewed as a 'safety net', owing to chronic mental health service shortages, it cannot be said that this health service context provides consistent patient-centred, effective emergency mental health care. Optimizing the role of the ED in relation to the continuum of mental health services will contribute to the Mental Health Commission of Canada's priority of making 'every door the right door', and ensuring children and youth have their mental health care needs met seamlessly as they move through the health care system. Projects in the imprint research program are designed to address multi-level factors to improve the care of children and youth with mental health needs.
