Abstract
MOL Report Seven (2015/2016) compiles 13 papers and presents research on surface mine planning optimization, simulation and optimization of mining systems, underground and block-cave production scheduling optimization, and related mining systems topics. The volume highlights mathematical programming, simulation, stochastic optimization, and decision-support methods for mining operations.
The report includes work on short-term production planning, cut-off grade optimization, mineralized mine waste as a future resource, open pit mine planning and waste management, truck-shovel simulation and dispatch optimization, block-cave production scheduling, secondary fragmentation analysis, extraction level optimization under grade uncertainty, and drawpoint layout optimization. Together, the papers demonstrate MOL's continued emphasis on mine planning and design, simulation modeling of mining and industrial systems, and optimization.
