Abstract
MOL Report Four (2011/2012) compiles 15 papers and presents research on mine planning and production scheduling optimization, oil sands mine and tailings planning, applications of discrete-event simulation in mining, and software-related guidelines. The volume highlights stochastic mine planning, optimization models, block-cave scheduling, truck-shovel simulation, and decision-support methods for mining operations.
The report includes work on block aggregation using hierarchical clustering, push-back design, hierarchical open-pit production scheduling, mine planning under grade uncertainty, block cave production scheduling, oil sands waste disposal and reclamation planning, truck-shovel haulage simulation, and software guidelines for Arena and Gemcom Gems workflows. Together, the papers demonstrate MOL's continued emphasis on mine planning and design, simulation modeling of mining and industrial systems, and optimization.
