Turning of Time

21 Jul 2021

I approached your doorstep
On a temperate day this June
Our voices warm and gracious yet tentative
Strolling down your front street,
A slight gap between us
The distance is immaterial, I convince myself
Enforced by external threats, not of our choosing
Topics open up as clouds life away
You talk of bad behavior,
I release my unrelenting fears
We converge on the banality of today’s matters
Which doesn’t matter at all except for those who matter
Leaving us holding on as the rain washes the dust
Wet and unarmoured are we
Grateful that we like who we see
And is reflected within
