My face is motionless, emotionless.
I'm standing on the sandy shore of a riverbank.
I hear your voice telling me "I will always jump in the water for you. I will risk my life to save yours."
But what if there is no emergency?
No drowning, no gunpoint, no handing off the edge of a cliff.
Just a heaviness, like my ankle is tied to an invisible rock by an invisible rope.
And you cannot help me because you can't see it.
And I look just as I always do, except there is no happiness and you can feel that.
You ask me to come out of it, to join you in an embrace.
Your open arms look so inviting.
But I am stuck in place.
